The Class of 2024 created large pieces of a mural during their 5th grade orientation; the large painting was later assembled and printed on ceramic tiles. After going through a difficult time at SCA, SCA C.A.R.E.S formed, and as one of their initiatives to promote positive mental health, invited all staff members to create their own artwork with inspirational messages to students. The tiles from the current graduating class (with a hidden message) were combined with the adult's tiles, inspired by two special friends that we lost. The finishing touches were completed this year as the former 5th Grade students finished their senior year. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in this creation. SCA C.A.R.E.S hopes that these inspirational messages remind students how much we care about them while they walk our halls and later as they leave to pursue their dreams.

High School 3D Design Art Students crafted handmade chia pets from clay. Once the clay was bisque-fired, students applied prepared chia seeds to their chia pets. Students were surprised and pleased to find their seeds sprouting in just a few short days. It was a fun way to close out the year.

Mr. Kelchner's 8th grade Science students built and launched model rockets in the annual project that is part of the study of human spaceflight. After building and spray-painting the rockets over the course of a week, the launches took place on Monday, May 20. Students competed for the highest, straightest flight, as well as a successful parachute deployment and recovery. The highest-flying rockets reached altitudes of nearly 1600 feet. 🚀 The Class of 2028 (8th graders) have also been participating in a variety of celebration activities prepared by their teachers during the last full week of school. These include the aforementioned model rocket launches, a tug-of-war battle of the homerooms, a kickball tournament, a poetry competition, and a civil war field day featuring reenactors, experts, and artifacts. Congratulations to Mr. Kelchner's homeroom for going undefeated in the double-elimination tug-of-war tournament bracket! 🐯

Students in 9th Grade Physical Science classes recently completed an Engineering Design Process project where they were tasked with researching, designing, and constructing a bridge out of toothpicks and glue. The groups worked collaboratively through the process and completed various activities that encouraged them to evaluate their progress and redesign as needed. Bridges were then evaluated to ensure they were within specifications and tested for strength. Shown with their completed bridge are students Kylee Henry, Abby Apichell, Jayden Laubach, and Ava Cole.
