The Southern Columbia Bocce team came out victorious in yesterday's match versus Shamokin. This was the last contest of the regular season for the squad. Each team member was also awarded with their Varsity letter at the match. Congratulations Tigers!
Michaela Williams is at PMEA District Orchestra for the next two days performing with students from all over our area!
Earth, Space, & Environmental Sciences students recently spent time measuring the percentage of the Earth's atmosphere that is made up of oxygen gas. They had a birthday candle standing in a pan of water. Students lit the candle and then inverted a glass tube over the candle. The flame would consume the oxygen and water would rise up in the tube to take its place. By comparing the amount of water pulled into the tube to the total volume of the tube, they could determine how much of the air was oxygen.
Seniors Isaac Carter and Gavin Krebs visited a Tiger Youth Basketball practice last night to talk to the players about the importance of teamwork, supporting one another through ups and downs, and building life-long skills through participation in school activities.
Next week (February 12-16) is Be Kind Week. To celebrate, the Student Services team came up with a Spirit Week! Please share with your kids and encourage their participation!
The Tiger Community would like to congratulate Brian Britton for reaching the 1,000 point milestone as a Southern Columbia Tiger against Shamokin Area. Brian has also announced that he will be attending Wilkes University to further his academic and athletic career. We wish him the best!

Middle School: Sarah Jarrard, Hannah Manney, Alex Woodland, Owen Eyer, and Lillian Hinkle
Students who earned 30 AR points during the 2nd marking period were treated to a pizza party sponsored by SMART! Reading can be cheesy! 🍕🍕🍕
Students in Ms. Habowski's 2nd Grade class celebrated the 100th day of school with a 100 Hershey Kiss Hunt around the classroom. Students found Hershey Kisses that were hidden around the room. Students then placed the Hershey Kisses on a 100 chart and practiced counting to 100. This activity was also supervised by Ms. Habowski's student teacher, Mr. Merkle.
The SCA Bocce team won their matches against Danville and Mount Carmel this week. They will compete again tomorrow (February 2) at Central Columbia at 3:30 pm. Come on out and show your support!
5th Graders enjoyed their Pizza Party for earning 25 AR points during the 2nd Marking Period!
Mrs. Sharrow's Kindergarten class is 100 days smarter, and they celebrated by participating in delightful Day 100 activities. Miss Glassmire, their student teacher, also had the opportunity to be their facilitator during the fun festivities.

These singers were ready for a concert. We are so proud of them and all of their hard work. What a fantastic concert it was. Congratulations to Saira Sodergren for advancing to Regional Choir. Out of 46 singers she placed 8th and is moving on. What an amazing feat. Great job!
The Kids Who Care Middle School Art Club created origami boxes filled with treats and handmade clay ornaments after school with Mrs. Brown. Recipients of the gifts were suggested by SCA staff members who knew of someone who needed their spirits lifted. Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey and thank you to all of the students who utilized their talents to make someone else feel special.

Pictured here are our SCA Lady Tigers with their awards at the National High School Cheerleading Championships last week in Texas. They placed 5th in the Advanced Division, received the Best Use of Stunts Specialty Award, and were recognized as a top 10 finalist in the USA (of all high schools, no matter the division). Our Lady Tigers will compete at the PIAA Cheerleading States tomorrow morning.
