The Class of 2023 now officially has three 1,000-point scorers in Girls Basketball. Pictured, from left to right, are Ava Novak, Alli Griscavage, and Loren Gehret. Novak’s milestone came earlier in this year’s regular season at home against Mount Carmel Area. Griscavage hit the mark in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs last year at home in a win over Elk Lake. Gehret made her history in the final home regular season game this season in a victory over Shikellamy. On two different occasions, two classmates topped the mark on the Boys side and once before on the Girls side. This is the first time that a trio has done it at SCA. Remarkably, it is only the second time this century that three players from the same graduating class accomplished the milestone throughout all of District 4.

In a 42-31 win over Shikellamy on February 13th, senior point guard Loren Gehret became the 12th player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She scored a game-high 15 points in a 42-31 win over the Braves in the final home regular season game of her career. The milestone came off an offensive rebound that she finished off with a layup early in the fourth quarter. Loren joins SCA elementary school teacher Erin (Snyder) Spotts as the second athlete in school history to score 1,000 points on the basketball hardwood and tally 100 goals on the soccer pitch.

The Southern Columbia E-sports team will face off against Danville Area on Thursday, February 9, at 6:00. The match will be streamed on the Danville Area School District YouTube channel. The Tigers currently sit atop the Central Susquehanna E-sports League standings with a 3-0 record and face a tough road matchup against the Ironmen. Be sure to tune into the stream and to support these student athletes on their quest for a league championship! The link for the match is: https://www.youtube.com/live/cvpUGDL3TSk?feature=share

When freshman basketball player Michaela Williams played the National Anthem on her violin before a January 19 game, she had no idea that her performance would go viral by the next morning.
