Mr. Kelchner's 8th grade Science students built and launched model rockets in the annual project that is part of the study of human spaceflight. After building and spray-painting the rockets over the course of a week, the launches took place on Monday, May 20. Students competed for the highest, straightest flight, as well as a successful parachute deployment and recovery. The highest-flying rockets reached altitudes of nearly 1600 feet. πŸš€ The Class of 2028 (8th graders) have also been participating in a variety of celebration activities prepared by their teachers during the last full week of school. These include the aforementioned model rocket launches, a tug-of-war battle of the homerooms, a kickball tournament, a poetry competition, and a civil war field day featuring reenactors, experts, and artifacts. Congratulations to Mr. Kelchner's homeroom for going undefeated in the double-elimination tug-of-war tournament bracket! 🐯
