A big thank you to Mr. Roth and Mr. Kelchner for taking a couple middle school students and setting up the middle school science booth at the Bloomsburg Fair.
Mrs. Serafini's 8th grade classes played "Capture the Flag" to get ready for their Revolutionary War unit.
Students in 5th grade science class are working diligently on their projects this week. They are completing a biography cube on a scientist that has been assigned to them.
SCA is looking for Event Staff to assist with parking and crowd control for athletic and other events. $50 per football game. See the Employment Page on the District website for details.
Congratulations to Homecoming Queen, Loren Gehret, and Homecoming King, Jake Toczylousky. Loren was crowned before the football game on Friday night, and Jake was crowned at the pep rally on Friday afternoon in front of the entire student body at Tiger Stadium.
Students and staff across the district have had fun participating in Homecoming Spirit Week. Yesterday was "Tourist Tuesday" and today is "Wacky Wednesday." We can't wait to see these outfits...
Next week is Homecoming Spirit Week. The week will provide your child with an opportunity to have fun with five different dress-up days. A flyer with each day's events for Elementary and Middle School is attached.
The Southern Columbia Area High School would like to announce homecoming festivities for the High School.
On Friday, September 16, the football team will take on Lewisburg Area at 7:00 PM at Tiger Stadium. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned prior to kickoff at 6:45 pm.
Homecoming festivities continue Saturday September 17 with the boys’ soccer team taking on Shamokin Area at 11:00 AM and the girls field hockey team taking on Forbes Road at 2:00 PM. Both games are at Tiger Stadium.
The homecoming dance will take place Saturday night.

Southern Columbia is excited to give their fans this convenient purchase option, where they will be able to either print-at-home or use mobile entry tickets for safe, no-touch redemption at the gate. Tickets purchased online can also be easily shared with family and friends via text!
A student pass will allow your child to attend every sporting event at Southern Columbia. Playoffs will not be part of this package. There is no Athletic Pass for Student/Athletes.

Sports Registration for the 2022-2023 School Year is now open through FamilyID. Visit the ATHLETICS webpage to register your athlete for all sports in which they plan to participate in during the 2022-2023 school year.
SCA teachers and staff showed unity and Tiger Pride by wearing their "Different Stripes, Same Tiger" t-shirts to school today. The shirts were designed and distributed by S.A.V.E. Club.
Back in the fall, Mr. Williams and Mr. Roth took their science and geography classes down to the lower campus, and landscaper Justin Ulanoski, of Native Creations, spent the day explaining to their classes a new plan that they had to add some trees and plants to the school’s property.
The native trees, berry bushes and pollinator meadows on our lower campus and behind the Elementary school are now showing great progress. Everything appears to be getting well established and thriving. The plantings were designed to reduce soil erosion, lessen the effects of flooding, provide food for humans and animals, take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, add oxygen to the atmosphere, and provide habitat for animals. When Mr. Williams recently visited the area to take some photos, he saw a red fox, turkey vulture and a white tail doe on the lower campus, all within five minutes of each other.
Hopefully, in the future, students will be able to pick and eat blueberries, service berries, elderberries and other fruits off the trees. Maybe our pollinator meadows will help struggling honeybee and butterfly populations. Our lower campus may eventually see the benefits of reduced flooding and the resultant damage. Only time will tell, but the early results are promising.
