
Today is First Responder's Day, and elementary students are being visited by some very special members of our community. Thank you for visiting our school and thank you for helping us to stay safe!




Students in Mrs.Konyar’s class earned their positive behavior reward. These students exhibited self-control, resilience and shined with the kindness they have been showing each other. They earned Root Beer Floats for their great work.

The following students were chosen by the sixth-grade staff at Southern Columbia Middle School as September's SoCo Stars of the Month. These students were chosen because they have displayed self-control, tolerance, academic integrity, and resilience within the school setting. Congratulations to each student and their families!

2022 Backyard Brawl Bonfire.
The Southern Columbia Cheerleaders are excited to announce the Backyard Brawl Bonfire being held Thursday, October 13, from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.
The community wide Bonfire will take place next to the G.C. Hartman Elementary School playground. Enjoy chants and cheers by the cheerleaders backed by the fantastic Southern Columbia Marching Band.
TORCH THE TORNADOS is the call for the Tigers in Catawissa.
Come fire up the Tigers at the Bonfire on Thursday night.
Then pack the stands at Tiger Stadium on Friday, October 14 for the highly anticipated SCA versus Mount Carmel football game.


Anatomy students spent a class period testing bacteria levels of certain areas in the school. This introductory activity was used to introduce a new unit on cells.


The Hartman Fall Festival is underway on this beautiful Friday morning. Not only are the Elementary students having a blast, but parents, teachers, and High School student helpers are all taking part in the fun.





Kindergarten classes were outside bright and early this morning learning how to march (with the help of the SCA Band) at the HARTMAN HUSTLE!!!

High School Student Council will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event from 6:00pm-7:30pm as a way to spread some community spirit and provide a positive outlet for our students. Please see the attached flyer for more details!

When you have an hour and a half of darkness...you make the best of it! Some students spend the "lights out" time with Miss Stine completing the tutorial for the Prisms of Reality math program using the virtual reality headsets.

SCASD is without power. Students are in eliminated areas. Due to the lateness of the school day we will be dismissing at normal dismissal time.

Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast for tonight, we are postponing the K-4 Title I Family Event, Literacy Under the Lights, until the spring. Once a spring date has been determined we will send notification to everyone. We are sorry to have to postpone.

Second graders in Ms. Rhodes class wrote and illustrated their first class book, called "Black and White Zebra, Black and White Zebra." Inspired by author Bill Martin Jr's book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," each child wrote their own page in the book with complete sentences, using adjectives to describe the animal they drew.


Several Family and Consumer Sciences students recently competed in the Bloomsburg Fair FCS Identification Contest. Students had to correctly identify different fruits. Southern brought home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!


Our Marching Tigers took the stage at the 167th Annual Bloomsburg Fair this morning.




The 167th annual Bloomsburg Fair is in full swing and has everyone filled with excitement. The Elementary, Middle, and High School students are all eager for their time off to enjoy the fair. Students will have Thursday, September 29th, and Friday, September 30th, off of school. Teachers will have an In-Service day on Thursday.
