Special Education Services
It is the Southern Columbia School District’s mission to provide meaningful special education services and instructional programs for all students with disabilities. Southern Columbia strives to build special programs specifically tailored to the assessed needs of a student and attempts to deliver those programs in the least restrictive environment to the greatest extent possible. Southern Columbia offers a continuum of services to allow for more independent functioning on the part of the students as they progress through the grades.
The Special Education Department facilitates school psychological services, school counseling services, health services, special education programs, gifted programs, and other supports for students requiring accommodations to access their education due to a disability as defined by federal and state law. Special Services focuses on meeting the holistic needs of all students while supporting academic achievement.
