SCA Soccer Teams Advance to District Championships and State Playoffs
The boysβ team battled through an intense matchup against Benton on Wednesday, pulling out a clutch 1β0 win to move on to face Millville in the District Championship at Milton tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
The girlsβ team also delivered a thrilling performance, defeating South Williamsport 1β0 to punch their ticket to the District Championship against Muncy, which will also take place at Milton tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
Both teams now set their sights on district titles and state competition. Come out and support the Tigers tomorrow at Milton High School!

SCA students had the opportunity to hear from two authors yesterday, gaining insight into the process of writing and publishing a book. Ann LaBar, author of Prom Theory, joined virtually to discuss how to generate ideas and translate them onto paper. Juanita Mowery, author of Life With Sushi, visited in person to share her experiences with the publishing process and read her book to students. βοΈ

Last night, the Student Council hosted its annual Trunk or Treat.Β During this event, sports teams, clubs, teachers, and administrators came together to decorate their trunks with fun themes and hand out candy. Β The event featured 30 uniquely decorated trunks and welcomed approximately 600 students. This event brought together students of all ages to celebrate Halloween, and weβre grateful to everyone who attended and helped make it a success! ππ»π¦

SCA is very excited to welcome a new organization, Youth in Philanthropy (YIP). YIP empowers high school students to make a positive impact on their community through hands-on learning and grantmaking.
Seven high school students, along with their YIP advisorsβSeΓ±ora Borys and Mrs. Longβattended a YIP kick-off event to learn more about philanthropy and the needs assessment process. By the end of the year, the students will select one deserving organization to receive a grant based on the needs of our community.

Students in Ms. Charlton's Honors Anatomy & Physiology class investigated slides prepared from their own cheek and skin cells. Students were tasked to identify any organelles that were visible and relate this to their current unit on cells and tissues.Β π¬


Yesterday, High School Art Club members participated in The Exchange's annual Halloween Window Painting Contest in Downtown Bloomsburg under the advisership of Mrs. Roulin. Β After finishing their paintings, students had the chance to explore The Exchange's current gallery exhibition, gaining inspiration from the incredible work on display by local artists. It was a wonderful day for our student artists! ππ»π¦








Students in Mrs. Becker's Accounting class had an incredible opportunity to meet Tim DeFoor, Pennsylvaniaβs Auditor General, and Stacey Garrity, the PA State Treasurer today. They also explored the PA Treasury Vault and toured the stunning State Capitol Building in Harrisburg. ποΈ







On Saturday, the Southern Columbia Marching Band participated in their first band competition in decades. The competition took place at Shamokin High School and five other schools participated. The SCA band received a Silver trophy in their category, which means they received a proficient score. Congratulations to the band on this achievement!
Since this was the band's first competition in some time, the experience was especially meaningful. In addition to earning a Silver rating, they received a special award and grew as musicians through the event, proudly representing our school district in the community.

At their final home game yesterday, the Boys Soccer Team presented the Southern Columbia Band with a donation for Breast Cancer Awareness. This is yet another great example of our school community coming together for a meaningful cause. β½πΆ

Each group selected a franchise and delivered a professional presentation to their peers, covering key business elements like start-up costs, staffing needs, and a timeline for launching their franchise. Weβre proud of their hard work and growing confidence in career planning!
