Students in Mr. Johnston’s 10th Grade Honors English class recently read "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. Students took a test on the novel after they finished reading the book. The exam encompassed plot, figurative language, and symbols within the work. Students are currently writing an essay about the book that is either a compare and contrast essay or a five-paragraph essay on the topic of their choice. They only have in class time to write it, and the essay cannot be taken out of the classroom. For example, one student in Mr. Johnston’s 3rd period class, Karlene Wiehe, is writing her essay comparing and contrasting "Of Mice and Men" and "The Grapes of Wrath."
