Our Southern Columbia Junior Firefighters are proud to be a part of an amazing program. Being a Junior Firefighter allows them to protect and serve their community while being role models for younger students. In addition to serving their community, this program allows them to gain valuable skills, like being better problem solvers and being able to work well in stressful situations. This program is so useful in providing opportunities to high school students and in giving them a great after school activity that not only benefits themselves, but others as well. They can also choose to work toward becoming an EMT through the invaluable training and triage experience they gain. The Junior Firefighters program is great for anyone who wants to make a difference in their community. As Junior Firefighter Chase Compton says, “It feels good to do good.” A special thanks also goes to Ryan Davis, Aidyn McHale, and Russell Longenberger, fellow firefighters, for providing information for this piece.
