Middle School Counselor:  Mrs. Jessica Walters ext. 3402, Direct line (570)356-3402, jwalters@scasd.us,

Hello, I’m glad you are here. I’m Mrs. Jess Walters and blessed to be entering the 21-22 school year for my 11th year as a school counselor here at SCA. I am the only middle school counselor and work with ALL students in grades 5-8. I love that each student is unique and enjoy getting to know their gifts, interests, and personalities. Middle school can be both an exciting and challenging adventure and I am here to help, support, and advocate for all students. Below you can find more detailed information about my role as a middle school counselor. Please reach out with any questions or concerns. Have a great school year!

The Role of Middle School Counselors

Each new school year presents new challenges and experiences to students; middle school is such an exciting time!  Students grow & change and set full steam ahead on the journey of figuring out who they are, where their interests lie and how they would like their life path to look.

Middle school often comes with its own special set of challenges – from academics & friendships, to family dynamics & future career paths.  During this time families begin to see their children move towards adolescence and into the teenage years. Co-curricular activities, peer relationships and social interaction seem to suddenly become more prominent in the lives of students than they ever were before.

Middle school counselors are skilled and trained to support students, families, and school communities in navigating this exciting time!
