2014-2015 Proposed Budget

The proposed budget of the Southern Columbia Area School District for fiscal year 2014-2015 is available for public inspection until final Board approval, which will be no later than June 30, 2014.  The Board of Directors is scheduled to vote on the final budget at the regular meeting on Monday, June 16, 2014.  Please call the District Administrative Office (570-356-2331 or 579-672-2983) between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

MS and HS Art Show

The District's new Art Gallery will be the site for the 2013-2014 Art Show showcasing SCA's talented middle school and high school artists.  The gallery is located in the lobby of the auxiliary and "old" high school gyms. The Art Show will be held from 3:30-5:30 PM. A silent auction featuring the work of local artists will also take place.

Empty Bowls to benefit Manna for the Many

The Senior Class and the Art Club will sponsor an Empty Bowls ice cream social to benefit the Manna for the Many food bank. For a $5.00 donation, patrons will receive a handcrafted bowl, designed by the Art students, which can be filled with ice cream "galore" and toppings. The joint community service project will be held in the lobby of the Charles Nesbitt Gymnasium from 4:00-8:00 PM.

Relay for Life

The 2014 Southern Columbia Area Relay for Life will kick off at 3:15 PM with a Community Opening Lap. PIAA Track and Field Championships Continue

Good luck and best wishes are extended to Luke Rarig (110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles), Andrew Steely (800), and Cody Pavlik (discus) who have advanced to the semifinal and/or final round of competition in the 2014 PIAA Track and Field Championships. The track and field championships are being held at Seth Grove Stadium on the campus of Shippensburg University.

Marketing Students Engage in Unique Field Trip

Recently, Business Education Teacher Kristie Anderson and seventeen Marketing and FBLA students were invited to Knoebels Amusement Park to take part in a  commercial shoot for the Flying Turns wooden bobsled roller coaster.  In addition to being featured in the commercial, the students were able to learn more about marketing and video production.  The commercial will be shown on television, the internet and during "pre-roll ads" shown before launching a YouTube video.  "The students had a great time and le

Primary Election is Today

Southern Columbia Area School District registered voters in Columbia and Northumberland counties are encouraged to vote in today's Primary Election.  All registered voters- Democrats, Republicans and Independents- will have an opportunity to cast a vote on the Act 1 Referendum Question pertaining to the School District.

Relay for Life Activities Announced

On Friday, May 30th Southern Columbia's elementary and middle school students will kick off the 2014 Southern Columbia Relay for Life celebration by participating in the annual Relay for Life Recess (Grade K-4) and Relay for Life Field Day (Grades 5-8).  During the Relay for Life Recess, SCA's elementary students will participate in activities designed and organized by the middle school students. The middle school students will then have the opportunity to participate in these same activities from noon to dismissal during Field Day.
