District's Special Education Plan is PDE Approved

The Pennsylvania Department of Education recently notified the District that its Special Education Plan for 2014-2017, has been approved. Many thanks are extended to Jennifer Snyder, Supervisor of Special Education, and the Planning Committee, for their diligence in putting together such a sound, comprehensive plan. Energy Savings Project in Full Swing

If you have driven by Southern Columbia Area's School District's campus recently, you may have noticed a bevy of activity related to the Guaranteed Energy Savings Project approved by the Board of Education this past spring. The project will net the District over $4 million in energy savings over the next twenty years while allowing it to make much needed facility repairs. Headed by the McClure Company, the project includes districtwide lighting upgrades, "plug load" management, building envelope upgrades, HVAC upgrades and roofing upgrades.

Free Eye Screening and Child Fingerprinting

The Bloomsburg Area Lions Club in conjunction with the Wal-Mart Optical Department and the Hemlock Township Police Department will be holding a free eye screening and free child fingerprinting at the Optical Department at Wal-Mart in the Buckhorn Plaza on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Children ages 5 through 12 are eligible for the screening. Parents must be present to sign a consent form for either free screening.
