Competitive Spirit Team Wins District Championship!

Congratulations are extended to Southerrn Columbia Area's Competitive Spirit Team for winning the District IV Small School Division Championship! The competitive cheerleading squad will now advance to the state championships to be held at the Giant Center in Hershey on Friday January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th.

Board Members are Recognized for their Commitment to Public Education

Public schools across Pennsylvania observe January as School Director Recognition Month.  The theme for 2015 is “Stronger school boards. Stronger schools. Stronger Pennsylvania.”  The Southern Columbia Area School District wishes to thank the men and women who serve as Board of Education members.

Camera System Expansion Completed Over Holiday Break

During the past few weeks, cameras secured through PDE's Safe Schools Grant were installed by NRG Controls North, Inc. and members of Southern Columbia Area's maintenance staff. SCA Building and Grounds Supervisor Tim George and his staff installed all cabling needed for the project, while NRG technicians installed, aligned, configured and commissioned the new cameras.

Wrestling Squad to be Honored on 30th Anniversary of Undefeated Season

The 1984-1985 Southern Columbia Area Wrestling team will be honored before the start of the Varsity Wrestling match against Central Columbia. That Tiger squad finished the season a perfect 18-0.  All Southern Columbia Area Wrestling alumni are invited to attend the match and a social gathering to be held in the High School cafeteria immediately following the contest. The ceremony will be held between the Junior High and Varsity matches (between 6:30 and 7:00 PM).

Art Show and Gallery Receive Rave Reviews!

The dedication of the District's Art Gallery held on December 17th, was well-attended, with many guests reporting the new gallery provides a "welcoming space" that helps promote an "awareness and appreciation of the arts." Wednesday's Art Show and gallery dedication featured artwork and technology education projects created by the District's K-12 students. The gallery will be updated periodically by rotating in new student work at regular intervals throughout the school year.
