Congratulations to Band members Nathan Hunsinger, Breanna Burd, and Emma Rosko who were selected to represent Southern Columbia Area at the 2018 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 8 Band Festival held at Mansfield University. The talented musicians were selected to District Band after completing a successful audition for this honor.

Junior High Wrestlers Advance to States!

Seven Tiger JH Wrestlers advanced out of the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestlers (PJW) Area X Championships and have earned the right to compete in the PJW State Championships in Johnstown, Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th.

District Artists to Display Creations

Southern Columbia's Annual Art Show will be held Friday, March 16th from 4:30-6:30 PM and Saturday, March 17th from noon until 2:00 PM. The show will feature artwork from all District art students, grades K through 12. The Art Show will be held in the Zambor-Schuerch Art Gallery which is located in the Old Gym Lobby area.

Wrestlers Add District Title to List of Accomplishments!

Congratulations to the Southern Columbia Area Tiger Wrestling Team who capped a successful weekend of wrestling at the 2017-18 PIAA District IV Wrestling Tournament with numerous team and individual awards!  Team-wise, Southern wrestlers amassed 205.5 points- outdistancing their closest competitor by 48 poi

Military-Style Circuit Training Comes to SCA

Recently, students in grades 7-12 had an opportunity to engage in circuit training exercises routinely used by National Guardsmen to keep physically fit. The circuit consisted of running, burpees, push ups, sit ups, and many other "life-long" activities that require little or no equipment.

National Recognition for Football Team!

Congratulations to the coaches and student-athletes of the Tiger Football Team on being named to the 13th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions, a national award sponsored by MaxPreps and the Army National Guard. The Tour of Champions recognition is considered one of the most prestigious team awards in high school sports nationwide.

Principal Gets "Stuck for a Buck!"

G.C. Hartman students and staff recently held a special fundraiser to support the school's Pennies campaign. For "a buck" students had the opportunity to tape Principal John Fetterman to the bleachers. As the picture shows, the "stuck for a buck" fundraiser was a success! The horrific school shooting in Florida brought the issue of security to the forefront of national discussion and analysis. Recently, reporters Mark Gilger and Stephanie Bettick of the The News-Item, interviewed local school offiicials to discuss school security measures in place in their respective schools.
