Spring Concerts Herald the Approaching Wrap Up of Another School Year!

 
The Spring Concert featuring the High School Band and Senior Chorus provided a highly-entertaining start to the annual spring concert series which features high school and middle school musicians. The Band was led by Instrumental Director Mr. Joel Thomas and the Chorus by Choral Director Mrs. Letha Stone.

Phys Ed Students Reach New Heights!

The Pennsylvania National Guard recently provided students a unique physical education opportunity by bringing a climbing wall to the District free of charge. The impressive 25-foot structure was transported to Southern Columbia by the PA Arny National Guard's Mobile Event Team (MET).

State and Local Police Aid Safe School Efforts

Wednesday, April 25, 2018- As part of the District’s continuing efforts to ensure that students attending Southern Columbia Area schools have a safe, drug free, and healthy environment in which to learn, the District, in cooperation with the Locust Township Police Department, Ralpho Township Police Department, Catawissa Borough Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police, conducted a drug search of our Middle School and High School using specially-trained dogs who are able to sniff out drugs.

Three Students Advance to FBLA Nationals!

Southern Columbia was well-represented at FBLA's State Leadership Conference with twenty-nine students competing in various events that tested each student's business leadership skills. Among Southern's contingent, four students- Reese Houseknecht, Chase Urban, Chloe Wegrzynowicz and Jared Ebersole- were exceptionally strong, with each finishing as a top ten state finalist.

Calendar Revised to Add Safe Schools Training

The March 21st snow storm which cancelled school will be made up through an Act 80 Day on June 8th, meaning the students' last day of school will remain at Thursday, June 7th. An Act 80 Day allows schools to count hours, as opposed to days, in order to determine if they are meeting State requirements for instructional time.
