Summer Office Hours

All District offices are staffed throughout the summer should you need to contact your child's school. The offices are open to the public, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM. 

Pickleball Tournament Marks Fun End to a Productive School Year

The Seventh Annual Pickleball Tournament sponsored by the District's Physical Education Department featured many hotly contested games in each of its three brackets. According to Physical Education Teacher Claire Campbell a record number of students signed up for the 2014 competition which fielded 86 teams. "Games were played during activity periods, study halls and even lunch periods so we could conclude play before the end of the year," stated Mrs.

Honor Graduates Named

Among those recognized at Sunday's commencement exercise were twenty-two students who earned the distinction of being named an Honor Graduate. In order to receive this honor, students must complete ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade with a 95% or higher average.

Congratulations to the Class of 2014! You have met the challenges posed to you by your parents, teachers, coaches, advisors, school administrators, employers, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. While standards for behavior and achievement were ever-increasing during your years as a K-12 student, you have risen to the occasion and have met or exceeded all expectations!

2014-2015 Proposed Budget

The proposed budget of the Southern Columbia Area School District for fiscal year 2014-2015 is available for public inspection until final Board approval, which will be no later than June 30, 2014.  The Board of Directors is scheduled to vote on the final budget at the regular meeting on Monday, June 16, 2014.  Please call the District Administrative Office (570-356-2331 or 579-672-2983) between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Marketing Students Engage in Unique Field Trip

Recently, Business Education Teacher Kristie Anderson and seventeen Marketing and FBLA students were invited to Knoebels Amusement Park to take part in a  commercial shoot for the Flying Turns wooden bobsled roller coaster.  In addition to being featured in the commercial, the students were able to learn more about marketing and video production.  The commercial will be shown on television, the internet and during "pre-roll ads" shown before launching a YouTube video.  "The students had a great time and le
