District Award PAsmart Grant

Pedro Rivera II, Secretary of Education recently announced that Southern Columbia was among Pennsylvania's schools who were awarded a PAsmart Targeted K12 Computer Science and STEM Education grant in the amount of $35,000.

Student Performs in District Orchestra

Congratulations to Nathan Hunsinger, Class of 2020, who was selected to represent Southern Columbia Area at the 2018 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 8 Orchestra Festival held at Williamsport Area High School.

FBLA Students Experience Much Success at Regional Competition

Congratulations to Southern Columbia Area’s FBLA Chapter which enjoyed a success-filled day at the Region 7 Competition, sending a record number of students on to State competition. Thirty-six, Southern Columbia students will represent the District and Region 7 at the State Competition to be held in Hershey April 8-10, 2019. The previous record of qualifiers was 30 students set in 2016.

New Tool to Enhance School Safety Announced

On Monday, January 14th, the Safe2Say Something (S2SS) anonymous reporting system will go live across Pennsylvania.

Revisions to Student Code of Conduct and Handbooks Now in Effect

During this past week, Building Principals have been meeting with students to explain revisions to the Student Code of Conduct that are now in effect as well as related revisions to the student handbooks. The revised Code and Handbooks are listed on the Student Handbook page of this website. One of the goals of these revisions is to clarify what bullying is and is not.

Spirit Team Repeats as District Champions!

Congratulations to the Southern Columbia's Competitive Spirit Team on capturing the District 4 Small Varsity Championship held January 5th at Shamokin Area High School. The District gold medal finish was the Lady Tigers third consecutive and fourth overall since 2015.

Participation in Digital Learning Project Encouraged

Southern Columbia will be participating in Project Tomorrow's 2018 Digital Learning Project and your participation is strongly encouraged.

Student Fundraiser Promotes Reading

The High School Library Club and students from G.C. Hartman Elementary recently took steps to promote the love of reading in our communities by donating books to the Ralpho Public Library. The books were purchased through fundraisers held by the students and the project's organizer, Literacy Specialist Ms. Lindy Novak.
