Mock DUI Crash Delivers Powerful Reminder

Every two years local emergency personnel representing distinct units, collectively pool their resources to stage a mock DUI crash on school property to show young drivers the dangers of unsafe driving like drinking and driving, texting while driving and not wearing seat belts.

PSSA Idol Entertains and Inspires!

Each year, G.C. Hartman Elementary Center kicks off the statewide assessments with a fun-filled and highly-entertaining variety show which features the school's teachers and staff as the main acts! The PSSA Idol is modeled after the TV show American Idol and features musical acts and test-taking tips delivered by staff members to third and fourth grade students.

SCA Artists Recognized for Excellence

Southern Columbia artists, all members of the Class of 2019, were named winners in several categories, including the top prize, at the 41st Annual Scholastic Arts Exhibit sponsored by the Packwood House Museum in Lewisburg.

Students Interact with Renowned Animal Expert

Southern Columbia's Fifth Grade students recently had the opportunity to chat and ask questions to renowned primatologist and environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall via Skype in the Classroom. On April 2nd, Dr. Goodall engaged the students in a live chat and Q & A session. Goodall is best known for her study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees.
