Southern Columbia students trekked to Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania to participate in the 2nd Annual Spartan Games hosted by the North Schuylkill School District. The Spartan Games, similar to the Special Olympics, showcases the abilities of students with intellectual disabilities as they engage in competitive athletic contests.

Foundation Awards Teacher Grants

The Southern Columbia Community Foundation helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day 2018 by awarding  $9,077.25 in grants to teacher applicants who submitted proposals in the inaugural year of the Teacher Grant Program.

American Legion Assists with Safe Schools Effort

Catawissa American Legion Post 541 recently donated $1,000 to support Southern Columbia Area's initiative to put trauma kits in each school building. The kits are intended for use in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic event such as an active shooter. The kits include gauze, compression bandages, tourniquets and other materials which can stop bleeding.

A Good Time was Had by All!

From all accounts, the 2018 Prom, sponsored by the Junior Class, was a fun, memorable event for the over 200 students in attendance. The dinner and dance held at Ponduce, was preceeded by the promenade which was highlighted by the crowning of the Royal Court!
