Touching Memorial Day Tribute

Memorial Day was established in 1868 to pay tribute to individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States. As President Reagan reminded us in 1983, "We are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free."

SCA Captures 6 Medals at State Meet

Southern Columbia's Track and Field athletes made strong showings at the PIAA State Championships coming home with six state medals in individual and unit competitions.

Students to Compete as Teen Star Finalists

Four Southern Columbia students, Kiersten Brecht, Zach Honabach, Mikaela Brouse and Dylan Kramer, will be among the finalists performing at the 9th Annual First Columbia Teen Star Musical Competition to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 2nd at Haas Auditorium on the campus of Bloomsburg University.

Excellence Honored at Recent Board Meeting

Student and staff excellence in a wide-range of endeavors were recognized and honored at the May 20th Board of Education Meeting. Among the honored guests were those excelling in good behavior and citizenship, service to school and community, interscholastic sports, and coaching high school youth.

Track Athletes Advance to State Meet

Southern Columbia's Track and Field teams made impressive showings at the District 4 Meet in Williamsport with the Boys team finishing third out of twenty teams and the Girls tenth in a field of twenty-four.

Students Explore Nature's Classroom

Southern Columbia’s First Grade students traveled to the District’s Nature Trail to engage in a variety of lessons which taught them basic concepts of ecology while gaining an appreciation of the flora and fauna of the area.

Book Fair Gets "Dino-mite" Results!

In an effort to ensure every student went home with at least one book, G.C. Hartman’s BOGO "Dino-mite" Scholastic Book Fair featured a coin challenge to support this cause.

SCA Unites to Erase Stigma of Mental Illness

On May 9th, Southern Columbia was awash in green as the school community united to stage a Green Out Day to promote mental health awareness.

District Awarded PCCD Safety Grant

The Southern Columbia Area School District has been awarded a school safety grant of $50,705 to be used to create a campus-based, digital radio network that is integrated with FirstNet, the high-speed, nationwide wireless broadband network used by First Responders and dedicated to public safety. The grant will also support other security projects designed to keep our schools safe.
